The honour of “first and second school to enter the inaugural Twizza Super School Series” goes to Uitsig High School (Centurion, Pretoria) and Paarl Boys’ High School (Paarl, Western Cape).

“We are excited to welcome Uitsig High School and Paarl Boys’ High School to the inaugural Twizza Super School Series.  If the speed at which they entered is anything to go by, then we expect great results from these two schools,” says Ajee Valentine, Twizza National Sponsorship Manager.  “The goal of the Twizza Super School Series is very clear – we want to crown SA’s best athletics school.  In addition to exciting racing, we look forward to witnessing exceptional teamwork while experiencing a thrilling atmosphere and making memories.  We’d like to invite all schools to be part of the action, enter the Twizza Super School Series today and #TasteTheMoment.”

The Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier 1 will take place at the Bestmed Tuks Athletics Stadium on Thursday 19 September 2019, while the Regional Qualifier 2 will take place at the Green Point Athletics Stadium on Saturday 05 October 2019.  From here the Top 40 Schools will head to the Bestmed Tuks Athletics Stadium on Saturday 01 February 2020 where they will #TasteTheMoment in the Grand Finale.

Situated in The Reeds (Centurion), Uitsig High School was opened in 1991.  The number of learners increased from 164 in 1991 to 1140 in 2019.  Each learner is treated as an individual in their own right and not just as a number that disappears in the crowd.

According to Hanlie Truter, Athletics Head Uitsig High School, the Twizza Super School Series is an innovative and exciting athletics competition that cannot be missed.  “Our athletes are always open for a challenge.  As a school we strive to give further exposure to our athletes and our school as a whole.  We want to prove that nothing can keep us from participating, damper our enthusiasm or prevent us from achieving great heights.”

One of the oldest schools in South Africa, Paarl Boys’ High School was built in 1868 and currently has 900 learners.  As a centre of excellence, Paarl Boys’ High’s vision is to create an environment in which every young man can reach his full potential in the field of academics, sport, cultural activities and leadership.

“We love the concept of the Twizza Super School Series,” says Rayno Snyman, Master In Charge of Athletics Paarl Boys’ High School.  “We would like to give our athletes maximum exposure.  Our goal is to improve the performance of our athletes.  We are excited to be able to achieve this on such a wonderful platform.”
