The search for SA’s best athletics school will continue in Cape Town this coming weekend when the Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier 2 gets underway at the Green Point Athletics Stadium on Saturday 05 October 2019.

The Twizza Super School Series has one clear goal in mind – to crown SA’s best athletics school!  There can only be ONE WINNER!  That school will take home the BIGGEST TROPHY in SA SCHOOL SPORT and bragging rights for one year!

“The Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier 1 that took place at the Bestmed TuksAthletics Stadium on 19 September surpassed all our expectations,” says Lance Coertzen, Twizza Group Marketing Manager.   “We experienced something very special and we definitely want more.  We cannot wait to see what the schools from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape bring to the track.  One thing is for sure, we expect many more special moments to be made.  Join us at the Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier 2 and #TasteTheMoment with Twizza.”

The first school to enter two full teams into the Twizza Super School Series, Bellville High School is eagerly awaiting their turn to contest for the title!

According to Cornè Lottering, Athletics organiser at Bellville High School, the Twizza Super School Series is a refreshing idea.  “It’s nice to be part of the top competition, so we of course entered two teams.  The aim is to prepare our top athletes for the season by giving them exposure to strong competition at an event that is well organised.”

Top achievers to look out for from Bellville will include Handrè Carstens (Boys U19 shot put and discus) and Zander Conradie (Boys U19 javelin).

Carstens’ impressive achievements includes obtaining Western Province colours for discuss.  “The Twizza Super School Series is an exciting new event that I am really looking forward to being part of,” says Carstens.  “My goal will be to enjoy myself and give my best.  If we bring our A Game and keep fighting until the end, I have no doubt that we will bring the trophy home.”

“Winning at our MTBS inter-schools athletics competition and qualifying for the Western Cape team was awesome,” says Conradie.  “I am very excited to be part of the Twizza Super School Series.  I think that it will be a great opportunity for us to compete against other top athletes in the Western and Eastern Cape, get a bit of exposure and maybe an opportunity to go to Gauteng for finals.  I know that each of our athletes will give it their best to win the trophy.  It would be great to be the winner of the 1st ever Twizza Super School Series.  Nothing is impossible.”

Aleck Skhosana, the President of Athletics South Africa observed: “The coastal schools can expect top competition and a great atmosphere. A battle for supremacy between the Eastern and Western Cape is always going to be an interesting topic. It’s an opportunity for the young scholars to test their capabilities in the sport and for others, to see how far they are into a career that that has sprung many into top professional athletes.”

Additional schools to look out for at the Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier 2 will include: Paarl Gimnasium, Paarl Boys High, Paarl Girls High, La Rochelle, Stellenberg and HTS Drosdy to mention just a few.
